Congratulations to our Students.....

 

 

 

All courses are run by Lynda Gilbey, Senior Lecturer and Proprietor of CakeArt Creations of Atherstone. Lynda was approached by PME, a senior developer and producer of Sugarcraft Equipment, to teach their internationally renowned Professional Diploma in Cake Decorating.

 

A lecturer for over 20 years, Lynda has taught CENTRA, ABC and C&G at various colleges within the Midlands area, whilst successfully running a retail business in Atherstone. Lynda had hoped to open her newly planned School facilities in readiness for offering these new and exciting courses to the surrounding areas. However, certain problems have developed and the opening will be delayed, therefore all courses will continue to be run from Atherstone Arts Centre until further notice. Students attending the courses were taught varied skills in Cake Decorating. Most students were beginners, but after only 25 hours of expert tuition the students produced these final pieces of Art. All courses are run from Atherstone Art Centre, Owen Street in Atherstone.

Royal Icing Course

'Starting a Cake Decorating Business From Home' Course

Presented by Lynda, she shares her many years of knowledge and experience with you in this unique day. Learn everything you need to know, including legislation, insurance, how to price cakes, advertising and building a portfolio. She explains what happens during a food safety inspection and what training you need, together with life savers such as what to do if things go wrong and how to deal with tricky customers. 

 

What’s included:

Wedding Weekend Course

2012 was the year of lace, pearls and ruffles. The majority of my wedding cake orders this year are including at least one of these elements so we thought we’d put together a course with all of the relevant skills to fill two glorious days. We start from scratch learning how to split, fill and ice a sponge cake, how to marzipan and ice a fruit cake and how to stack them safely, whether it be two or twenty-two tiers .You will learn how to make beautiful ruffles and the most delicate fabric bow. As well as a wedding cake we will also be decorating wedding cupcakes featuring six different designs. Learn how to adapt ruffles as a cupcake topper, how to make a lace cupcake covering, a lace effect bow, beautiful piped pearls, pretty piped filigree and gorgeous brush embroidery lace effect. 

 

What’s included?

We supply your fruit cake and your sponge cake, all icings, boards and boxes and provide the use of all equipment needed so all you need to bring is your apron and some lunch. At the end of the weekend you take your wedding cake and wedding cupcakes home with you.

Learn how to make these cute jungle friends in just one day. These are perfect for children's cakes and they are so much fun to make! We will use modelling paste, sugarcraft tools and our fingers to make these little cuties as well aslearning how to ice a board and make a pond!
